onefive is free: what that covers, and what changes next

There is no limited free plan and no complete paid plan. There is one plan, at €0, and it covers everything.

That is the short answer. The long one is worth reading, because "free" in the world of startup tools does not mean the same thing from one product to the next. On some platforms, the free version gives you a directory and nothing else. On others, it exists to make you feel the limits. On onefive, there is no limit to feel.

Here is what the product covers concretely, what it does not, and what could change.

What the free plan includes, feature by feature

The dataroom, with per-investor access

This is what most sets onefive apart from a shared Drive. You create a dataroom, you open access to each investor through a signed link, and you keep control of what happens after you hit send.

Concretely:

  • Per-investor access. Each link is individual. You open to one fund and close to another without touching the rest. There is no public URL to a dataroom.
  • Links that expire. You set an end date if you want one. After the closing or after a pass, access closes.
  • Versions. When you update a document, the previous version is kept; you know which version was circulating on which date.
  • Read tracking to the second. You see who opened what, for how long, and when. Not a vague "seen": a precise log.
  • Watermarked view-only PDFs.

On a typical pre-seed round you share your file with twenty or thirty funds over three or four months. Without read tracking you have no way of knowing whether the fund that stopped replying ever opened your forecast. With onefive, you know.

All of it is included, with no cap on the number of investors invited. The only limit is storage: 1 GB per dataroom.

Tracking the raise, today and next

There is no Kanban CRM yet: no "sourced / contacted / diligence" stages, no follow-up reminders in a pipeline. That is on the 2026-2027 roadmap, along with investor updates. The comparison pages say the same.

What ships today is read tracking in the dataroom. You see who opened what, for how long, and when. A follow-up after a twelve-minute read of the business plan is not a cold follow-up, and you have that information at hand before you write. To keep the conversation list, a spreadsheet or an outreach CRM is still needed until the pipeline ships.

The network, with verified profiles

Founders, investors and mentors share the same environment, with verified profiles. It is not a static directory: you can ask a question, get an answer from someone who has been through the same situation, and meet people you would not have crossed paths with otherwise.

Verification changes the nature of the exchange. A question asked to French pre-seed and seed founders whose identity is known is not worth the same as one thrown into a four-hundred-person WhatsApp group where you have no idea who is answering.

Spotlight, the directory of the French ecosystem

Spotlight lists incubators, accelerators, contests, campuses, venues and events across France. It is built from around 400 entries, published after review, each with its source, its last-checked date and, for a program, the application deadline.

For a founder who has just incorporated and is looking for a program suited to their sector, or who wants to know which ones are still accepting applications, it is a direct answer rather than five websites and a group chat.

The feed

The stream of what members publish: announcements, questions, rounds, lessons learned. Useful for following what is happening without hunting for it, and for seeing who is active on the platform.

Le Tour de Table

Le Tour de Table is the newsletter of French tech funding rounds, M&A, LBOs and IPOs, in five minutes of reading. It comes out on Fridays; the first edition is the one of 11 September 2026. Subscribing is free. It is market intelligence on France, not generic content on "how to raise".

The startup page, with cap table

Your company has a page on the platform, with the founding team and, if you choose, the cap table. Useful for showing the ownership structure to an investor or a partner before a conversation.

French and English

The interface and the content exist in both languages. Relevant for a mixed team or a founder talking to international investors.

What the alternatives charge

To measure what the free plan represents, here is what comparable tools charge for neighbouring features.

What onefive does not cover

onefive is not an equity management tool in the legal sense. It does not replace Carta, Pulley or Ledgy. If you need a legally binding share register for a BSPCE plan or a capital increase, you need a dedicated tool and a lawyer. The rules that apply to BSPCE are in our guide.

onefive is not an accounting, invoicing or payroll tool either. It does no matching: there is no algorithm and no selection deciding which investors get to see you. And it does not invest, does not co-invest, and takes no share of the rounds raised through it.

What it does, it does completely. What it does not do, it does not claim to.

What could change next

The pricing page fits in two sentences: "Free at launch, and we're in no rush to change that."

There is no paid plan announced, no switch date, and no feature throttled to create frustration. The product is free in its entirety, with no announced duration, no credit card.

What that does not guarantee is that the business model will never change: no product can promise that indefinitely. What is on the table: if options become paid one day, core access stays free, and the change will be announced, not slipped into the terms.

If you are evaluating onefive for a round in the next six months, the right question is not "will this become paid some day" but "does it meet my need now". The answer is in the sections above.

Why it is possible

The legitimate question behind "it's free" is always "but why".

onefive is in its launch phase. The goal of this phase is to build the network, not to monetise it. A network of verified founders, investors and mentors only has value if both sides are present; charging for access at the start would slow down precisely what needs to speed up.

It matches the reality of the market: a pre-seed or seed founder has no tooling budget. Building for them means building for free, at least to begin with. The trade for them is a complete product now. The trade for onefive is a network that will be worth something the day other models need exploring.

What it means in practice, at pre-seed

You have just incorporated. You have a product in progress, a team of two or three, and you are starting to think about a raise in the next six to twelve months. Here is what you can do from day one:

  1. Create your startup page, with the team and your capital structure.
  2. Open your dataroom ahead of the raise, with your first documents, even incomplete. It evolves over the months.
  3. Browse Spotlight to spot the programs suited to your sector and stage, and their deadlines.
  4. Ask your questions in the discussions, to founders who have already been through the same steps.
  5. Read Le Tour de Table on Fridays, to understand the market you are about to raise in.
  6. See who opened your documents in the dataroom, so you follow up at the right time.

Those are the six things the product makes possible from sign-up, in the order they are useful.

Frequently asked questions

Is onefive really free, or are there features hidden behind a paid plan?+

There is no paid plan. There is one plan, at €0, covering the product that ships today: dataroom, network, discussions, feed, Spotlight, Le Tour de Table and the startup page. A stage-by-stage pipeline CRM is on the roadmap, not in the plan yet. No shipped feature is reserved for a higher tier, because there is none.

How long does the free plan last?+

There is no trial period. The pricing page says: "Free at launch, and we're in no rush to change that." If options become paid one day, core access stays free, and the change will be announced.

Is onefive's free dataroom secure?+

Documents sit in private storage with no public URL. Access is granted investor by investor through signed links that can expire, documents are versioned, view-only PDFs carry a watermark, and every opening is logged to the second. onefive does not claim a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification: if your round requires formal compliance, evaluate the features in detail.

What is the difference between onefive and OpenVC, which is also free?+

OpenVC is first an investor list, with a simple pipeline. onefive is an ecosystem platform: dataroom, verified network, discussions, program directory, newsletter. The two are compared point by point on our "onefive vs OpenVC" page.

Is onefive useful outside a funding round?+

Yes. A raise is a moment in a company's life, not its identity. Spotlight, the discussions, the network and Le Tour de Table are useful before, during and after a round. A founder looking for an incubator or following the ecosystem uses onefive without raising.

Does onefive work in English?+

Yes. The product and the content exist fully in French and English.

What does onefive cover that Carta or Ledgy do not?+

Carta and Ledgy manage equity in the legal and accounting sense: share register, capital operations, incentive plans. onefive is not a share register. What it covers and they do not: the founder and investor network, the fundraising dataroom with read tracking, Spotlight and the discussions. The two answer different needs.
